Ethiopian Worker's Party

The flag of the Ethiopian Worker's Party is depicted in "The World Encyclopedia of Flags" by Alfred Znamierowski [zna99].  The WPE is an active political party which renounced Marxism in 1990. Originally, it was the only legal political party in Ethiopia under the Mengistu regime.  It used a red flag with a yellow star in the canton on which was superimposed a red hammer and sickle, based on the flag of the former Soviet Union and a design typical of many communist party flags.

One would assume that the red flag could also have been dropped in 1990.
